Day 22, More Yahtzee
So Christine has this Yahtzee addiction. But this time it was productive as I grabbed this shot when she was looking down at the dice. That happens a lot in Yahtzee.
I took this with my Nikon D70 and Nikkor 18-70mm AF-S. It was wide open and at ISO 1000. This caused a little bit of problems. First, there was some noise that I had to take care of with Neat Image. The second problem, which was made a little worse with the noise reduction, was such a narrow depth of field. I was sitting only a couple feet away, so the large aperture, while normally good for portraits, caused her eyebrows to be out of focus. I didn’t notice this on the camera LCD, and I don’t want to have to play Yahtzee again tonight. I should have stopped down a little at this distance, but couldn’t because I was handheld.
I also decreased the midtone contrast with curves in Photoshop because the shadows were a little too much.
Tomorrow I vow to take a photo with lots of light. Or maybe not.

Rembrandt Yahtzee.
You’d seriously have no idea that you guys were playing yahtzee in this photo. Totally looks posed.

This was the first shot I took and it wasn’t posed. All the other shots were posed and I didn’t like them as much.
