Day 3 of the Photo Challenge

Day three brought rain to southern California. But that’d stop my fellow bloggers, so it won’t stop me. On my way to pick up some bagels this morning, I brought the trusty Nikon D70. I snapped a few on the way there out the window of my car.

DSC_6095My favorite shot just popped out of no where as I walked back to my car. Right next to the dumpster, where the driveway met the road, I spotted a patch of green nestled up to the white road strip. The contrast was nice and I grabbed a couple shots. I think this shot turned out pretty good. There was nothing fancy about the exposure (1/320 sec, f/8, 85mm, ISO 200) and it required just a smidgeon of sharpening in Photoshop.

My Wife has the knack for seeing the little things in life. For many years now, I’ve been trying to learn how to see the same things. I used to pass up on gems like this because I was looking for the big. I’m starting to surprise myself when I see the small.

Next, I need to improve on Seeing The Light, as Stephanie says.

[...] Also, here’s my Day 4 shot - candles at night. While other photographers were out shooting in the rain, I happily lit some candles and enjoyed it from the inside! [...]

Haven’t seen your shot #4 but I like that #3… for a second I thought it was an aerial view of “some beach of some sort…” I am still not 100% sure what it is but it sure is not the beach or an aereal view :-)

Add me to the Photo A Day challenge! I’ll begin uploading to Flicker today! What fun!

Raist3d: Day four is coming today.

Rebecca: Send me a link to your blog post or flickr account and I’ll add you.

I found your site and the 30 days challenge through a link from Lisa at A Bird in the Hand. I am not a professional photographer but I’d love to join to challenge me to shoot new things, new ways. I have a blog but will probably just set up a set in Flickr — http://www.flickr.com/photos/happythings/ if it is OK that I jump on board.

Amy: Great to have you on board! I added your flickr and blog links to my 30 Days of Photos project page. Can’t wait to see more photos.
